Career Counselling Session And National Career Service (NCS) Portal Registration Camp

Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell of Govt College for Women, Udhampur organised a Career Counselling Session and National Career Service (NCS) Portal Registration Camp by District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Udhampur under the supervision of Prof. Jugal Kishore, Convenor, Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement (CCGP) Cell on 30thof Sept. 2022. Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, the worthy Principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were initiated by Dr. Kamaldeep Kour wherein she welcomed the Chief guest and introduced the audience to the today’s Resource Persons, Ms. Navdeep Kour, Career Counselling Officer, DECC, Udhampur and Mr. Lavnish Sharma, Young Professional, Ministry of Labour and Employment. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, the worthy principal of the college by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of Sr. faculty member Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeet Kour and Prof. Kewal Kumar. Prof. Yash Paul managed the proceedings of the programme for the 2nd session.
Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, Principal of the college, while addressing the audience encouraged the students for participating in such career-oriented programme and emphasised the critical role of such counselling sessions in enhancing the knowledge of the students about the current market employment scenario. She also exhorted that the National Career Service (NCS) portal is great initiative by the Govt. of India in bringing the knowledge of various jobs opportunities on the fingertips of the students. Further she affirmed that the college shall continue to organise such events in future also and the Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement Cell of the college shall be extended full support for organising such event to keep the students aware of the ever-changing employment prospects available to the graduates.
Ms. Navdeep Kour, Career Counselling Officer, DECC, Udhampur and one of the resource persons on the occasion, made the students aware about the various counselling and employment initiative and schemes of the Govt. of India especially Mission Youth Scheme taken by the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC), Udhampur and promised to extend all possible support in future also. Mr. Lavnish Sharma, Young Professional, Ministry of Labour and Employment, other resource person on the occasion, apprised the students about the National Career Service Portal and gave them a live demonstration to register themselves on the NCS portal and various steps involved in the process to use the portal for searching and applying for the jobs as per their skills and qualifications.
More than 120 students participated actively in the event and participated in the online registration drill on NCS portal. Role of the NCC cadets is highly commendable in the management of the events.
At the end the formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed, Member, Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement (CCGP) Cell. Mr. Arun Gupta, Dr. Amit Kumar, Prof. Binni Kumar, Dr. Sumit Sharma, Prof. Shama Rani, Prof. Yash Kumar, other members of CCGP Cell were also present on the occasion.
