Awareness Rally, Door to Door Campaign and Nukkad Natak under Mission Life for Environment In continuation with the ongoing activities under Mission Life for environment and World Environment Day, 2023 under the presidency of G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club, ECO Club and NSS unit of GCW Udhampur under the able guidance of Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal of the college and convenorship of Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Tania Mahajan and Prof Sumita Rao respectively in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India have organized different activities in the adopted village of the college ‘Rathian’ to sensitise the general masses regarding environmental issues. In the morning an awareness rally was flagged off to the Rathian village by worthy Principal of the college, Prof. Anjali Mahajan along with senior faculty including Dr. Sanjeet Kour, Nodal Officer AKAM and Prof Ashni Devi, HOD Botany on May 25, 2023. The message of rally was conveyed with the help of placards and through recitation of slogans by the volunteers. The rally was escorted by Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Sumita Rao, Prof Tania Mahajan and Prof. Yash Kumar. After the rally, a door to door campaign was undertaken by the volunteers to apprise the villagers about various actions related to energy saving, water saving, reducing the usage of single use plastic, segregation of wet and dry waste, adaptation of healthy life styles and plantation of trees. The volunteers made the villagers aware about the environmental conservation and its significance for future generations. In the afternoon, a Nukkad Natak on the said theme was presented by the volunteers before the villagers in dogri language which was appreciated by one and all. The message of Nukkad natak was to plant different trees at deserted places, to keep local water bodies ‘Bowlies’ clean, reduce the usage of plastic and try to follow the rule of 3 R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle) to save environment. All the activities held in Rathian village were coordinated by local Panchayat headed by Sh. Diwaan Singh, Sarpanch of the Village. About 50 volunteers participated in the said activities. Refreshment was also served to the volunteers.
