NCC CADETS FROM GCW UDHAMPUR PARTICIPATED IN THE ‘SWARNIM VIJAY VARSH

The year-long Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations started from December 20, 2020 to commemorate the victory of the Armed forces in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ torch reached Dhruva Shaheed Samarak,Udhampur on 14 June 2021, on Monday. The torch was received by GOC, 71 Sub Area, Station Headquarters, Udhampur. He was joined by 30 girls NCC Cadets of 2 J&K NCC Girls Bn of GCW Udhampur, Officers, and veterans from the 1971 war. The solemn occasion was marked by Gaurd of Honor to the ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ torch. The reception of the torch was followed by the Wreath Laying by GOC-in-C, Northern Command. The war veterans enriched the gathering with their war experiences. A total of 15 veterans from the UT of J&K were present at the ceremony. Though there are around 1,200 war veterans from the region, only 15 will be participating in the event due to reasons including age factor. The dignitaries and the veterans interacted with the cadets and motivated them to join armed forces. The event was culminated with the signing of visitors book followed by high tea at the Kargil Park. Prof. MinuMahajan, Principal, GCW Udhampur appreciated the efforts of the ANO and the Cadets. She further added that participation in such events boosts the morale of the young cadets.
