NCC Cadets of 1 J&K Girls Battalion NCC Srinagar, Govt. College for Women Udhampur, celebrated ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day). The day is celebrated to mark the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who had a major role in the political integration of India. This is celebrated in India on 31st October every year. It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. On this National Unity Day, Pledge taken ceremony and run for unity activities were organized by 1 J&K Girls BN NCC, GCW Udhampur, under the patronage of the principal of the college Dr. Monika Sharma, across the college campus. As many as 70 cadets participated in these activities. They took pledge to stay united and also conducted run with holding placards and flags to spread the message of unity to pay a tribute to our national hero. Earlier NCC Caretaker Ms. Shallu Jasrotia highlighted the importance of the day and briefed about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is also known as the Iron man of India.
