NCC Unit of GCW Udhampur observe ‘Rashtriya Yuva Diwas’
NCC unit, 1 J&K GIRLS BATTALION NCC, SRINAGAR of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, observed National Youth Day which is also known as Rashtriya Yuva Diwas.
The National Youth Day is observed every year on January 12 to recognise and honour the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, who was born on this very day. Every year a new theme is decided for celebrating this day. The theme of the The National Youth Day 2023 is ‘Viksit Yuva Viksit Bharat’, which means that if the youth of India is leading on a path of development then only India can be developed. To celebrate this day, the NCC Cadets of the college performed different yoga “asanas” (postures). Yoga session started with stretching and warm up exercises.
Worthy Principal of the college Dr. Monika Sharma, in her address to the cadets, emphasized on the importance of yoga to maintain a healthy body and healthy mind. She also mentioned that we need to take good care of our self and this can be made possible by practicing yoga. As many as 50 cadets enthusiastically performed yoga as per the instructions and experienced a sense of peace and happiness. Dr. Seema Sharma HOD Music, Prof. Yash Kumar Assistant Professor were also present on the occasion. Incharge ANO Ms. Shallu Jasrotia also highlighted the importance of Yoga and coordinated the whole event.
