NCC unit of GCW Udhampur observes Week-Long celebration on World Environment Day 2023
To celebrate World Environment Day 2023, the NCC unit (1 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar) of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur is organizing a series of activities with the support and guidance of Prof. Anjali Mahajan, principal of the college, under the Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment), G-20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with great zeal and enthusiasm. These activities began from 27th May and will conclude on 5th June 2023 on World Environment day. The main aim of conducting these activities is to generate awareness amongst the community by spreading the message of importance to reduce the plastic usage in everyday life.
The various events to be organized in this series are Poster making campaign, symposium, essay writing competition, Nukkad Natak and Pledge taking ceremony. These activities will cover the theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’ As a part of Mission Life, which which will encourage people to adopt sustainable lifestyle practices to protect the environment.
In these series of events, Poster making campaign was organized on the first day of this mega celebration, in which as many as 25 NCC cadets of 1 J&K Girls BN NCC Srinagar, actively participated and made informative posters on the theme ‘Bad Effects of the Plastic.’ Through this poster making campaign, the cadets created mass awareness about the threats caused by plastic pollution to the environment by displaying their posters in the college campus.
Principal of the college appreciated the NCC cadets for participating and celebrating the Mission life campaign with great enthusiasm. She also emphasized on the importance of a plastic free lifestyle to the maximum possible extent. The whole campaign was coordinated by the NCC caretaker Ms. Shallu Jasrotia.
