NCC Unit Of GCW Udhampur Organised Essay Writing Competition Under Mission Life For Environment

To celebrate World Environment Day 2023, which is observed on June 5 every year, the NCC unit (1 J&K Girls Battalion NCC, Srinagar) of Govt. College for Women, Udhampur is organizing a series of activities with the support and guidance of Prof. Anjali Mahajan, principal of the college, under the Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment), G-20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with great zeal and enthusiasm.
In continuation with the ongoing series of activities, on the 3rd day, on 30.05.2023, the NCC unit of the college organized an essay writing competition on the theme ‘Plastic Free India’ to generate environmental awareness. The medium of expression was English and Hindi.
The main aim and motive of conducting this activity was to create awareness and to generate some innovative ideas among the community on how to reduce the use of single use plastics.
In the competition, a total of 15 NCC cadets of 1 J&K Girls BN NCC Srinagar, actively participated and highlighted the various harmful effects of using plastic in our day-to-day life. They also expressed their views creatively on how we can make India plastic free.
Earlier, NCC Caretaker of this BN, Ms. Shallu Jasrotia, briefed about the rules and highlighted the main theme of the competition ‘Plastic Free India’.
Principal of the college, Prof Anjali Mahajan, appreciated the efforts of the NCC cadets and explained that how being environmentally conscious is extremely important and need of the hour. She also extended warmest wishes to NCC cadets for future endeavors. The whole event was coordinated by the NCC caretaker Ms. Shallu Jasrotia.
