POSTER MAKING COMPETITION ON "SAY NO TO PLASTIC" UNDER MISSION LIFE HELD AT GCW UDHAMPUR
A poster making competition on the theme, “ Say no to plastic” was organsied by Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Club, ECO Club and NSS unit of GCW Udhampur under the able guidance of Prof. Anjali Mahajan, Principal of the college and convenorship of Dr. Kewal Kumar, Prof. Tania Mahajan and Prof Sumita Rao respectively in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India in continuation with the ongoing activities under Mission Life for environment and World Environment Day, 2023 under the presidency of G20 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on May 30, 2023.
Prof. Anjali Mahajan, worthy Principal of the college was the chief guest on this occasion.
In poster making competition about 32 students participated and made beautiful and message oriented posters on the given theme. Dr. Sanjeet Kour, HOD Zoology, Prof. Ashni Devi, HOD Botany and Prof. Parmjit Singh, HOD Compute Applications were the jury members. On the basis of judgement of jury members, Miss Vanshika Sharma of Sem-IV, Miss Tanya Verma of Sem-IV and Miss Vandana of Sem -IV were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively while Miss Namrata of Sem-IV and Miss Vishakha Gandotra of Sem-VI got 1st and 2nd consolation prizes respectively.
Chief Guest of the occasion, worthy Principal, Anjali Mahajan appreciated the initiative taken by the organisers and stated that such awareness programmes in educational institutions will go a long way in sensitizing the masses about the various environmental issues and how the Mission Life will help us to curb the menace of pollution especially plastic pollution. She further added that our students have to act like ambassadors of such campaigns. Dr. Anita Sharma, Prof. Yash Paul, Prof. Sanjeev Upadhaya and Dr. Dinesh Kumar were among the others who graced the event with their benign presence.
